Khost: Officials in Khost province have reported that ten members of a single family were killed due to a personal dispute in Alisher district on Tuesday, January 28.
According to Alisher district governor Farid Wahaj, unidentified gunmen stormed a house and opened fire, killing ten people. Speaking to media, Wahaj confirmed the attack but did not provide details regarding the nature of the dispute or the relationship between those involved.
Officials stated that among the victims were three women, but no further information was provided about the remaining seven individuals.
The spokesperson for the Khost governor, Mustaghfar Gurbaz, also confirmed that the killings were linked to a personal conflict. However, authorities have not disclosed whether the attackers were affiliated with the Taliban or were ordinary civilians.
Investigations into the motive behind the attack have been launched, but officials have not provided further details on what may have triggered the conflict.
In Afghanistan's remote areas, disputes over land and property often lead to violent clashes. While the Taliban has claimed that security has improved since their return to power in 2021, personal and tribal conflicts continue to erupt in rural regions, sometimes resulting in deadly outcomes.
